A Final Ecclesiastical History

Author's Note

What follows is the true account and history of the interplanetary church in the 4th millennium, which largely concerns the Church at Eridan, often known as the Celestial River. To my knowledge, no other effort has been made to record a complete history of the events concerning the monastery, which has been erroneously called Sanctum Stella—founded by St. Aleph of Eridan[1] in the 36th century. Many writings have survived concerning the events preceding Eridan's founding. Still, no historian (if any can even be called that) has attempted to bring them all together into a single volume and narrative. For reasons that will be made evident in the following pages, we shall call this The Quaternary.

— The Historian

[1] It is unclear whether this is an error on the part of The Historian. It is now well known that the founder of the Church at Eridan was Argus. “Aleph” could either be an alternate name or a embellished honorific—being the first missionary of Eridan.
